Letter to the Daily Mail.

Dear Ms. Laura Park,

I am writing to you today because of the horrific article you have recently published “Twtr? It's majorly bad! Leading headteacher condemns 'text speak' for eroding schoolchildren's language skills”. Your main argument seemed to be that youths are damaging their English skills via texting. In my opinion, it seems more like you don’t understand and therefore don’t like the progression of slang. You also seem to be warning about the prevalent use of Facebook and Twitter. I assure you that if you went and asked school children today if they used Facebook or Twitter almost all of them would say “NO”. In a 2017 study, only 8% of teens reported twitter as their preferred social media platform and only 9% reported Facebook. If you don’t even know what teens are using to communicate, how do you even know what you’re talking about? All I really think is that you don’t understand teen slang and therefore hate it.
